Camps & Clinics
My goal is to give back to the sport and help younger players learn the mastery of the draw that I’ve developed throughout my career. I believe in teaching the game and the power of repetition so my Draw Academy events are kept small for individualized attention.

I only started playing lacrosse my junior year of high school, I had played softball for my first two years. It was really my older sister who got me involved with lacrosse. And it wasn’t until I tried the draw that I really began to make an impact in my game and within my team.
Having the opportunity to play at Northwestern was an amazing experience and winning two Division I NCAA National Championships was unforgettable. I am now looking forward to bringing that fuel and fire to a newer program as an Assistant Coach at the University of Southern California.

In College, I would try to work every day before and after practice. I think because of the repetition and redundancy, I feel like it really prepared me for the games. The goal was to have the draw down so well that you know going into the game that there’s no one else that is going to beat you. And with the help of my coaches and teammates, I think it has given me the mindset to own the draw.
I’m a Long Island native but a West Coast girl at heart. I love a good adventure. When relocating to the West Coast, I drove cross country from NY to CA in 6 days and it was was one of my favorite experiences, seeing what the country has to offer. Now, I’m enjoying my spot in Hermosa Beach, CA. My favorite part of living here is the ability to get up and get a surf in before heading off to work. I love living near the water, the ocean has a way really resetting me – everyone needs a little reset button in their life.
About Draw Academy
I began the Alyssa Leonard Draw Academy to help younger players learn about the technique and specialization of the draw. So often you see players walk up to the line and just rip the ball. But the draw is so much more than that and can be a huge key for your team and your way into a starting lineup. I love teaching the technicals and giving players new ways to improve their wrist speed, hand-eye coordination, box out technique, and so many other aspects of the draw and circle.
I feel like Lacrosse has given me so much and that I owe it to the game to give back, which is one of the reasons I decided to go into coaching. If I can have an impact on a payers life and game like my coaches did for me, then I’ll feel as if I’ve returned the favor to the game.
